Oh, but he did...
I don't watch Rachel Maddow's show daily, but I really should be watching more often, because she always offers up the best (really worst) treasures.
Here's the nugget from today.
She did a segment that started with this video clip posted on FactCheck.org.
Santorum's claim of forced euthanasia in the Netherlands is just the latest example of the ridiculous words that spew from the mouths of politicians these days. I prefer to think that the current lineup of Republicans are worse than the worst of the other side, but they're not completely innocent either.
Their audacity is... impressive. Toddlers and sociopaths are usually the only ones who can pull off such blatant fabrications of "truth".
The Netherlands euthanize the elderly, without consent, when their healthcare costs become too high... ergo this will be happening in the US in a couple years because of the meager progress that has been made reforming the US healthcare system. Really?
But those are the bullshit stories they are weaving and leaps they're making, and people actually believe. HOW is that even possible?
Here's the link to the Fact Check article: http://factcheck.org/2012/02/santorums-bogus-euthanasia-claims/
And don't get me started on the vaginal probe Governor...

Um, WTF Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado?
Santorum's Sweep (article from NY Times) in the latest round of primaries is equal parts mystifying and terrifying... I don't understand.
I spent a lovely week visiting with my Mom, enjoying sunny weather in the Pacific Northwest, driving to Washington to see her sister, my aunt, and came home to see that headline.
At this point, I don't even know what to hope for from the Republican nominating process.
Newt and Santorum both scare me – they're über conservative, racist, misogynistic jackasses. Newt is less on the traditionally conservative side, but he'll play whatever role will get him elected. But they're both less appealing to moderates, so hopefully would be easier for Obama to beat in November.
However, the US did elect Bush Jr. Twice. So the idea of either becoming the nominee scares me.
Romney scares me less, but he's likely to be more appealing to moderates, so might stand a better chance at winning the election. And that worries me more.
This election cycle has my stomach tied in a knot. And it's only February. I may need to visit Betty Ford in November...
